German Violin Bow, Markneukirchen School c.1925

Markneukirchen in Saxony is the home of many of the most famous names in German bow making. These famous workshops supplied bows for violin makers and shops around Europe.

A fabulous bow from one of the many fine Markneukirchen bow workshops of the early 20th century comprising a beautifully tapered dark stick with silver mounted ebony frog. A lightly crafted, lively stick that would be a perfect match for the advanced student or professional player.

Many bows, like this fine Pernambuco stick, were left unstamped so that the receiving shop could apply their own brand. Not all shops applied their own brands and so large numbers of these superb bows remained unstamped leaving the precise workshop of origin lost to the mists of time.
